LT SWITCH v1.5- REVIEW
March 30th, 2010
What do you get for your money?
Well as an avid fan of the original LT Switch, It’s simplicity and neatness of job have led me to use it in preference to the original MRA hack (wires, switches, resistor etc) once it was installed – it was back to simple read, spoof, flash again. SEE ORIGINAL REVIEW
However I have in my possession a 93450C that I fitted an LT switch to, to my surprise - the LT switch let me down on this particular drive.
It took me many, many operations of switch and intro/recycle power to get it to enter vendor mode. I originally thought maybe my soldering was at fault! Then after redoing it, I began to wonder if the LT switch itself was at fault – so I fitted another one – Same deal! It would only enter vendor mode maybe 1 in 20 attempts. No other drive had ever given me this problem! – Something not quite right with this one (I put it aside for further tests at a later date!)
I have heard of drives (normally the 9 series ones oddly enough) that require a smaller resistor for MRA Hack to work. But until recently had never encountered one!
So when a sample LT Switch v1.5 comes through my door (with added multi-r function) I dig out my drive with delight – a perfect test for this new switch!
Fitment – exactly the same as original switch! So inside a couple minutes my LT Switch v1.5 is fitted, ready to test!
The Multi-R switch basically switches between 3 resistor values 22ohm, 20ohm & 18ohm.
In the interest of the test I start at
22ohms – no matter how many times I Intro and power cycle – This refuses to go into vendor mode!
20ohms – Back to my original problems I had with the original LT Switch – once in a blue moon I could get vendor mode.
18ohms – YES! YES! YES! First time status 0x72, switch back to normal, Vendor mode! – read the firmware!
Try again, 18ohms, first time! And again, first time!
Over and over again the 18ohm selection never failed to do the trick!
Looks like Team-Xecuter found a problem, applied yet another simple solution and have done it again!
Well I’ll be ordering LT Switch 1.5 from now on! – I still have some v1.0 which I will use, as it was only this one drive that ever gave me any problems! But from now on – LT Switch v1.5 will be my recommendation to anyone that asks!
A simple but effective update!
